Old Bikes

Quick story:  I got into bikes because of racing.  Not straight line racing, but road course, Mid-Ohio, Gratten, Gingerman, Nelsons, etc....

Old bikes always seemed like a waste of time to me, because new bikes were faster, more reliable and cheeper to rebuild after you crash at the track (Which I do often).

Well, it was not until I was the accidental highest bidder on a heap of old bike on fleabay that I got into old bikes.  On this bike I learned how to rebuild carbs, gearboxes, dogear gears, use a lathe, mill, press, etc, etc, etc....  Now about 1/2 way thought this build I met a guy by the name of BSA Bert (somewhat of a legend in these parts).  This is when the obsession completely grabbed me, then mid-ohio vintage days cemented old bikes into my brain forever.  Here is what I discovered that has got me hooked.   The pure pleasure of a bike uncomplicated by modern day bullshit.  Pure, simple, functional, beautiful.  Here are a few examples.

Also the simplicity and direct engineering made these bikes accessible to my mind.  It is very clear where the valves are, what the single cylinder does, what is driving the magneto, and generator.  They sparked my imagination and literally sparked the idea of this company.
